Dear Sandburg Families,

I am pleased to inform you that power has been restored to our campus and school will be in session following our regular schedule.  Many thanks to SCE and the GUSD Maintenance crew for working through the night to fix the issue!

7:00 p.m.

Dear Sandburg Families,

The safety of our students, staff and our school community is our top priority.  With this in mind, we want to keep you updated on the latest information regarding a power outage impacting Sandburg Middle School.

The wind storm that swept through our community this past weekend resulted in fallen trees, which cut power to our school site.  While neighboring homes and businesses in the area have had their power restored, additional repairs are needed before Sandburg will be reconnected to the power grid.  Crews from Southern California Edison (SCE) are working to resolve the issue and district staff are monitoring the situation closely.

At this time, our hope is that SCE will be able to restore power this evening and that we will be able to welcome students to campus tomorrow morning.  If power is not restored this evening, we will assess the situation at 5:30 a.m. and, at that time, make an informed decision about whether we can safely welcome students to Sandburg.  We will notify our families through a dialer message, email, and text.  Information will also be available on our website (sandburgspartans.com) and social media platforms (Instagram: @ sandburgspartans, Facebook: @sandburgspartansGUSD).

We thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation.  We will keep you apprised of additional information as it becomes available.

Sincerely,

Kristy Espino, Principal
